This position is located in the Ballistic Test & NDT Branch (T13) of the Product Assurance Division (T1) of the Applied Technology Department (T) at the Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, MD. The duties of the position are as follows: responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling analytical services and coordinating major test programs; responsible for analyzing and interpreting NDT data on a variety of rocket motors, CADs/PADs, propellant grains, igniters, pilot ejection systems, and warheads; preparing and submitting detailed reports of evaluation; serving as technical consultant on matters involving NDT data analysis and techniques; developing new or improved NDT test procedures; training employees in NDT methods and techniques; sometimes lead or assist in conducting NDT test operation, assuring that all operations are conducted safely and in accordance with applicable SOPs. Relocation expenses are authorized.
Skills:
A current ASNT Level III certification in radiography is required.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance.

Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 or equivalent grade level in other pay systems to include: has performed NDT testing including set-up and operation of test equipment, handling and processing of test items, and reviewing data to confirm necessary data were captured; has performed NDT analysis using computer analysis OR visually examined the NDT data; has written technical reports/plans regarding NDT; and experience in radiation health physics or radiation protection and monitoring (evidenced by a current ASNT Level III certification in radiography).
Applicants should include sufficient information in their CHART resume/application that demonstrates their experience, knowledge, skills, training, and/or education in the following:
1. Knowledge of Nondestructive Testing (NDT) engineering principles, development of techniques, equipment, and facilities.
2. Knowledge of NDT data analysis and interpretive techniques and methodologies.
3. Ability to prepare technical reports/plans, review reports prepared by others, and present technical data regarding Nondestructive Testing (NDT) (Describe your computer tools/programs you have used to prepare technical reports and presentations).
4. Knowledge of radiation health physics and radiation protection and survey/monitoring meter.
