SCOPE:
The In-Service Inspector is accountable for the day to day operation of the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management (PIEM) Program and asset integrity inspections, including:
Process condition monitoring for corrosion impacts
Thickness survey data analysis
Plant surveillance
Turnaround inspection and planning
Optimization of the PEIM program
KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION:
Reporting to the Chief Inspector, the In-Service Inspector will be responsible for the implementation and administration of the PEIM program including asset integrity inspections, condition monitoring and pressure equipment repairs
React to the day-to-day inspection needs of the assigned areas and provide expertise in the utilization of inspection technology over a wide array of equipment such as pressure vessels, boiler, fired heats and process piping
Provide guidance and expertise in the utilization of various inspection technologies and application of industry codes and Horizons standards.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that CNRL personnel and contractors meet the requirements of the PEIM Program
Work with Operations, Maintenance and Process Control to identify opportunities for asset integrity management improvements to enhance equipment integrity and bottom line performance
Assist in the set-up and management of a corrosion monitoring program for in-service equipment and piping
Conduct inspections of new and in-service equipment and piping, assist in the management and maintenance of the PEIM Program as well as maintenance of the pressure equipment database
Provide daily inspection support to your assigned area of the plant
Participate in failure investigation and root cause analyses
Review, approve, and inspect all pressure equipment repairs
Audit or evaluate existing/new vendor facilities
Provide leadership and expertise in verifying through audit or inspection that the Horizon PEIM Program, CNRL Standards, Procedure and regulatory requirements have been met
Promote a quality culture among the Plant Teams
Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Education & Experience:
A diploma in Mechanical/Metallurgical/Materials or Welding Engineering Technology with a minimum of 5 years experience as an in-service inspector
Experience on pressure vessels, boilers, fired heaters, tanks, pressure piping, and holding an Alberta In-Service Pressure Vessel Inspection certification preferred
As an alternative, applicants with In-service Inspection experience in the petrochemical, refining or upgrading industry with either API-510, API-570, API-653, NB, CWB level 2 certifications, CGSB level 2 NDT plus certification as an ABSA Certified Pressure Vessel Inspector will be considered Candidates without this certification could be considered with the correct combination of experience and qualifications
Intermediate Computer Skills, experience with Microsoft Office Software & strong understanding of Microsoft Outlook
Ability to understand written work related documents, including engineered drawings
Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail
