SCOPE:
As a key member in the Horizon Project Management team, the QA Specialist - Mechanical will apply industry experience to define, develop and review the Horizon Oil Sand's major project QA program.
KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION:
Support the implementation and administration of project quality assurance while continuously monitoring programs/procedures
Provide guidance and expertise in the utilization of various inspection technologies
Provide guidance on application of regulator requirements, industry codes and Horizon Standards
Implement Audit Program to measure quality performance of contractors and suppliers
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a key part of the overall Horizon Project Management Team, working closely with many diverse disciplines including project managers, purchasing, engineering, operations, maintenance and contractors
Conduct compliance audits, both internally and externally, to verify conformance with the Horizon project quality requirements
Assist in the maintenance of a database which tracks all quality records, and any other technical records as required to support reliability and integrity efforts
Resolve day-to-day QA issues as they arise
Report on QA issues to management
Promote quality awareness, continuous improvement to influence the overall success of the project
Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Education & Experience:
Minimum 10 years Quality Assurance experience
Preferred candidates will be those possessing certifications in CGSB NDT level II, CWB Level II, API 570/510/653, and National Board Owner-User commission
Preferred applicants will be in a position to acquire an Alberta In-Service Pressure Vessel Inspection certification
Previous experience in an operating plant performing an in-service inspection function to written standards & procedures within an Owner-User Program and ensuring compliance to industry standards and government regulations.
Quality Technician or Technologist certification (Technician or Technologist in a related discipline acceptable)
Ability to understand written work related documents, including engineered drawings and Bill of Materials
Intermediate Computer Skills, experience with Microsoft Office Software & strong understanding of Microsoft Outlook
Personal Qualities:
Strong organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail
Communicate effectively in all types of situations, platforms and environments
Ability to work independently, handling multiple projects of competing priority and work effectively in a fast-paced
