Plant Manager – leadership, micro machining, medical, swiss type cnc lathes

A profitable and growing division of a 45 to 50 million dollar corporation is searching for a Plant Manager. The opportunity is with their medical / aerospace components division producing micro machined components on swiss type cnc lathes. This opportunity could lead to the corporate management position. Our client is a long time successful organization with a reputation for quality and on-time delivery.

The General Manager over the medical / aerospace division will lead, guide and direct the company providing vision and forward thinking. This position manages materials, purchasing, capital expenditures, production management, engineering, quality, high skilled machinists and maintenance leading a core cross functional team. The Plant Manager will develop a strategic plan to continue the growth of this division. Strong team building skills and precision machining technical knowledge is needed. The ideal candidate will have direct experience working with swiss CNC lathes, strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to assist machinists in debugging processes is needed. The Plant Manager will help to develop cost estimates, communicate with customers and create the plan to executive production orders, strong planning, scheduling and the ability to communicate goals, objectives and customer requirements is also needed. Experience leading operations, hiring, disciplining, reviewing, training, promoting and coaching others is a must. The Plant Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving production and quality systems. This division is a ISO-13485 and AS-9100 certified facility. Good follow up skills and experience achieving production requirements and customer due dates is key to success. Candidates with experience researching and justifying new capital equipment are preferred. Experience working in a medical device, surgical instrument, orthopedic or medical implant machining operation is preferred. The Plant Manager will have direct customer contact, review contacts, ensure margins, and lead product launches to meet or exceed customer expectations. MUST HAVE: 5 plus years of Plant / Operations Management in a precision machining environment and strong team building skills. Knowledge of swiss CNC lathes such as Citizen, Star, Tsugami, Hanwha, Nomura and/or Tornos Deco is strongly preferred. Promotable candidates with the ability to move up to a Division General Management or President role are also preferred. Good planning, leadership and execution skills are a must.
