Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Inspect and insure that weld performed on pipeline or other equipment are implemented as required in the contract specifications. Responsible for overseeing the quality assurance/quality control on behalf of client.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform internal and external inspections to determine if a weldment or equipment meets the acceptance criteria of a specific code, standard or document.
• Conduct inspections on equipment at scheduled intervals to maintain the mechanical integrity of the fixed equipment of the facility.
• Properly interpret regulations, codes and industry standards.
• Use a computer to compile and submit daily reports and inspection reports, as well as for inter-office communications.
• Compile and submit completed inspection report in a timely manner.
• Pay attention to detail and be capable of recommending and approving repairs as well as performing visual inspection of completed work.
• Drive a vehicle safely in extremely hazardous conditions.
• Maintain a positive relationship between client, facility and customer; and promote a positive attitude towards coworkers.

Skills:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
• 5 to 10 years’ experience in weld inspection related activities (QC, NDT, etc.) within Oil & Gas Processing and Pipeline projects.
• Certification as an Inspector required (AWS, QC1). Extensive practical experience required.
• Extensive knowledge of industry standards including API-1104, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, AWS D1.1, ASNT & NACE.
• Current Drivers License from state of residence.
• Must be willing to Lead and Work (hands-on) with other CWIs on project as the inspection team grows. Must be innovative, pay attention to detail, increase company productivity on projects and lead teams by example.
• Must be able to travel out of town 50% or more of the time and work various shifts.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawing to include Piping, Structural and Architectural.
• Process above average knowledge/skills in report writing and use of computer for job related research and communication.
• Perform monitoring and surveillance activities of contractor QC and Craft personnel for compliance to industry standards and project specifications.
• Working knowledge of Nondestructive Examination methods; former certification and radiographic interpretation is a plus.
• Self-starter type with ability to perform job requirements in a detailed, timely manner with minimal direct oversight.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, lifts heavy objects and work in cold weather climate environment.
• Good communication skills and ability to interface with Client and Contractor personnel.
• Drug and alcohol screens are performed monthly.

SHIFT/HOURS: Shifts & Hours will vary – Must be flexible to work overtime – Travel required 50% to 75% of time
