Summary

The Material Science instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and operating a program designed to prepare students for entry-level careers in Material Science/Non-destructive testing. He/she will work with other instructors in the program carrying out functions related to the position as described below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develop curriculum that includes the knowledge and skills necessary for employment.
2. Establishes clearly defined instructional and performance objectives.
3. Participates in student recruitment, retention, and job placement activities.
4. Promotes the program and goals of professional technical education.
5. Follows all Clover Park Technical College employee policies and procedures.
6. Prepares students to transfer to a four-year college or university. Attends articulation meetings for the program with high schools, colleges, and universities.
7. Serves as a role model for the students with excellent work ethics and professionalism and provide motivation for industry success.
8. Participates as a team member in a multi-instructor program using good communication and conflict management skills.
9. Carries out administrative responsibilities including but not limited to student retention, student advising, equipment acquisition and maintenance, attendance and grade reporting, curriculum changes, catalog changes, program marketing, and student recruiting.
10. Work independently and yet is a contributing and effective member of the team.
11. Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (must be met to be considered):

1. Current American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level 2 certification in one or more technical areas.
2. Associates Degree or 7+ years of related work experience in non-destructive testing (Ultrasonic, Radiographic, Eddy Current Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrate).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in material science or a related field.
2. Two years of classroom teaching experience or equivalent.
3. Experience working with composite material, including manufacturing, repair and/or assembly
4. ASNT Level 3 certification
