RESPONSIBILITIES:
• NDE Supplier Quality/Development.
• Review NDE Supplier's procedures for compliance with industry standards and company specific NDE Specifications/Procedures.
• Performs NDE Level III duties as defined in SNT-TC-1A
• Considered an NDE Subject Matter Expert, supporting product groups, production, NDE suppliers, other regions in some cases, and customers.
• No budget responsibility at this level.
• Works under limited supervision.
• Interprets and applies relevant policies & procedures.
• Receives objectives and guidelines for projects.
• Regularly assigned ownership of conceptual design.
• Analyzes and interprets data independently.
• Anticipates potential problems and takes preventative action.
• May adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs.
• Participates in the project planning and schedule process.
• Reviews the work of others for accuracy and soundness of judgment.
• Indicate budget/revenue responsibility.


MAIN TASKS:
• Provides technical support related to Non-Destructive Inspection necessary to meet engineering needs.
• Ensures that projects meet specifications, standards and performance requirements within area of expertise.
• Trains less experienced Quality Technicians in instrumentation and equipment use, policies, procedures and inspection techniques.
• May check the work of others for accuracy.
• Maintains NDE Trainee, Level I and Level II NDE files, qualification and certification documents.
• Verifies calibration of inspection tools and may calibrate measuring and inspection equipment prior to beginning assignment.
• Inspects all types of product, regardless of complexity, in accordance to the requirements of the DBI and regularly uses more complex measuring devices and inspection equipment such as the Coordinate Measuring Machine.
• Receives materials and reviews MTR (Material Test Report) and compares to the DBI (Data Base Information) to determine dimension specifications, measurements and tests required to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.
• Records inspection results and completes reports and related documentation or data entry in an accurate and timely manner.
• Reports nonconforming product to the appropriate person.
• Performs internal audits and leads or assists during external audits (API, ASME, ISO and customer).
• Performs Follow-Up on CAR’s and Field Non-Conformance Reports (FNCR’s) routinely.
• Records results in an accurate and timely manner.
• Works in a safe manner and keeps all employees and visitors to work area aware of potential dangers.
• Practices good housekeeping in work area and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
• Accepts ownership of conceptual designs and sponsors projects to higher management.
• Attends appropriate industry related professional society meetings and functions in order to stay informed of and make good use of new technology, products and personal development opportunities.
Skills:
REQUIREMENTS:
• BS degree in Materials, Mechanical or related Engineering is preferred, although must have a minimum national certification in at least 4 methods of NDE or the equivalent (e.g. ISO 9712, EN-473, AWS, CWI). Six to eight years of manufacturing experience in specialized area or product line(s) is a plus.
• Must be competent in several disciplines of NDE (Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), including Digital Imaging and CR.
• Thorough knowledge and experience in Ultrasonic Testing is desired, to include Phased Array, Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) and the basic volumetric techniques.
• Must possess a clear understanding of high school math or higher, and have the ability to read, write and comprehend English.
• Ability to interpret and apply API, ASME, ASTM, AWS and ISO NDE requirements to Data Base Information and components. Knowledge of international specifications and standards are a plus.
• Must have strong knowledge of quality auditing techniques, documentation requirements and demonstrate the ability to perform a technical audit of internal or external process.
• Must have the ability to interpret test specifications.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to interface with FMC Technologies personnel, third parties, and/or customers, and to be able to train others to use measuring and testing equipment.
• Ability to use computers and Microsoft Office software for necessary documentation and communication.
• Recognized as a technical Subject Matter Expert among internal and external peers.
• Demonstrate proficiency in mentoring, thinking creatively, and project planning.
• Good organization and project planning skills.
