NDE Inspector - 2nd Shift (3:30pm - 12:00am)

Summary:

· Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production and finished products inspections.
· Records quality results.
· Reports directly to QC Supervisor or his/her designate.

Job Duties:

· Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducts visual and measurement tests; reject and return unacceptable materials.
· Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducts visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
· Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducts visual and measurement tests; returning products of re-work; confirms re-work.
· Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; documents non-conforming materials and rework; inputting data into quality database.
· Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; call for repairs.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reads technical publications.
· Inspects parts or products received against purchase order specifications.
· Examines machined parts or products using precision measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers and other measuring tools applicable to the operation.
· Performs other non-destructive examinations in categories as certified.
· Performs mechanical testing and witnesses and evaluates pressure test results.
· Prepares reports and maintains records.
· Will observe safe work procedures and conform to good housekeeping standards.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the QC Supervisor or his/her designate.

Education and Experience Required:

· 3 + years of prior inspection experience required.
· Prior experience in a metal fabrication environment required.
· High school diploma or GED/BOCES required.
· Must be able to pass a proficiency test.
· Required to pass an eye examination including color blindness test.
· Experience with measurement devices, blue prints and GD&T preferred.
· Familiarity and experience with NDE processes (LT, UTT, VT, MT, RT, UT, PT) strongly preferred.
· Logged hours in NDE processes strongly preferred
· Experience in an engineered-to-order environment preferred.
· Certified Welding Inspector certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

· May be required to move items up to 60 pounds for distances of up to 10 feet. May be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time. May be exposed to fumes or dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels. Must wear appropriate protective gear and clothing as necessary.
