UT Level II Shop Inspector

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for ensuring that all parts, shafts, and/or poles meet the quality standards set by the Company through performing UT and NDT testing methods. This position also assists the QC Visual Inspectors by inspecting tacked, welded, painted and manufactured parts and components for quality per the Company’s quality control processes and procedures as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develops an understanding of the Company’s quality control program, standards, procedures, and codes.
• Performs all inspection functions to the requirements of ASNT SNT TC-1A for a UT Level II AWS Weld Inspector.
• Conducts in process and final ultrasonic, NDT, and visual weld inspections of manufactured steel products in accordance with the AWS D1.1 code.
• Verifies and maintains inspection and test status of product during all stages of manufacturing, including receiving, in-process, final, and shipping.
• Participates in the training process of UT Level I Inspectors.
• Verifies rework and repair of nonconforming products.
• Attends daily start-up meetings to review production schedule and receive daily job assignments.
• Initiates requests for corrective action on observed conditions which do not conform to quality system requirements.
• Prepares and reviews Quality records appropriate to inspection and test activities to assure legibility, completeness, and correctness of the information.
• Uses various dimensioning tools such as tape measures, combination squares, levels, etc. when conducting dimensional inspections, and UT inspection tools such as UT Machine Avenger EX, transducers, straight beam, Shear Wave Resolution, etc.
• Visually inspects all manufactured parts (or a representative number) to ensure they are manufactured per the drawings/specifications.
• Inspects pole sections that have been painted or galvanized as needed.
• Assists in maintaining work performance records, inspection records and other related documents ensuring correctness of all documents.
• Ensures that customer requirements are determined and met, with the aim of enhancing customer satisfaction.
• Cross trains in other areas of the Quality Department and assists other areas as needed.
• Performs work in indoor or outdoor environments as needed.
• Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in area of operation.
• Contributes to team effort by communicating effectively and working with all levels of personnel within the Company, as well as accomplishing related tasks as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
• High school diploma or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience.
• 1 to 3 years’ recent experience as a UT Level II with Shearwave; ASNT UT Level II certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year recent experience working in Quality Control in a welding/manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in all types of weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, and cold.
• This position works a majority of the time in a loud and dusty environment.
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to build relationships with co-workers and other internal customers.
• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced team environment.
• Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and quality manuals, blue prints, and design drawings along with proficiency to use and understand measuring and testing equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to input and retrieve information from PC based information systems.
• Ability to use various dimensional inspection tools such as tape measures, 6” inch rules, combination squares, levels, etc.
• Ability to perform work functions while standing for long period of time.
• Ability to climb and bend over in order to perform inspections.
• Ability to accurately verify all parts to print using measuring devices such as a tape measure, combination squares, levels, etc.
• Must be able to meet the AWS D1.1 requirements of a visual weld inspector and perform ultrasonic and visual weld inspections in accordance with the AWS D1.1 codes.
• Must have the ability to become certified to the requirements of ASNT SNT TC-1A for a UT Level II AWS Weld Inspector and Magparticle testing.

SHIFT/HOURS: Shifts & Hours will vary – Must be Flexible to work overtime and either shift as required

PAY RATE: $19.00 to $25.00/hr. - DOE
