Job Summary:

Nondestructive examination of aircraft components made of composites, ceramics, plastics, and other materials for internal and external structural defects, delaminations, corrosion, and moisture utilizing ultrasonic, or other types of nondestructive test processes and equipment. The work includes equipment setup, operation, adjustment, and evaluation or interpretation of test readings or results within established parameters for acceptance or rejection.


Summary of Duties:

An NDT Level 3 individual is a certifiable level. An NDT Level 3 shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
•Performs Non Destructive inspections of: ◦Newly designed or revised products.
◦Incoming products to ensure proper paperwork is received and parts conform to specifications, engineering and purchase order.
◦In-process inspection of parts being manufactured.
◦Sub-assemblies used in the construction of aircraft interiors.

•Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s) as utilized by the employer.
•Be capable of assuming technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.
•Be capable of selecting the method and technique for a specific inspection.
•Be capable of preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures in the method certified.
•Have a general knowledge of other NDT methods and product technologies used by the employer.
•Be capable of providing or directing training, examination, and certification of personnel in the method in which they are certified.
•Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts only when a demonstration of proficiency in this capability was included in the practical examination.
•Non-Destructive Testing Level 3 for NDT UT methods employed.
•Develops and implements NDE equipment and procedures for aerospace vehicles to ensure system safety.
•Be capable of auditing outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met.



In addition to Level 3 responsibilities above prepares the training and examination program as well as shall have a thorough knowledge of the written instructions, codes, specifications and standards used by Zodiac Aerospace, Inc. customers. Responsible Level 3 shall also have a thorough knowledge of the materials, components, product technologies, methods and techniques used by Zodiac Aerospace, Inc.

The responsible Level 3 is responsible for:
•Review of NDT requirements
•Sequence of NDT operations
•NDT procedure development and approval
•NDT technique development/review and approval
•Training of NDT personnel
•Examination of NDT personnel
•Certification of NDT personnel

Qualifications:

Current NAS410 Level 3 certifications required Ultrasonic (UT) both contact and immersion.


AA degree in related discipline and typically 6 to 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Does require fluent communication in English

ITAR governed position: Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident to qualify.
Skills:
- Familiar with Windows Operating System®
- Qualified candidate must possess ability to use precision measuring instruments. Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications and other technical literature is preferred.
