The Radiation Safety Officer will coordinate all activities required to maintain ISO9000 compliance; provide training to all employees in Mistras Services Corporation and other quality and continuous improvement tools; audit, review, and upgrade the effectiveness of the quality system through the use of internal audits, cost of quality reports, customer complaints, corrective actions, etc.; work as a team member with managers toward continuous improvement of production processes and procedures; work with customers to define their quality needs and translate those needs into features that can be improved, controlled and assured by the production team. The Radiation Safety Manager is the lead technical expert on the Radiation Safety Team and acts as the principal technical resource to the Mistras Services Group. The Radiation Safety Manager is responsible for assuring that all job sites and the facility use of radiation to conform with the MISTRAS Radioactive Material License, selected industry standards, and applicable government regulations. The Quality Assurance / Radiation Safety Manager is responsible to assure that radiation exposures to personnel are as low as reasonably achievable.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

• Maintain and enhance the Radiation Safety Management System
• Manages the Internal Audit process
• Manages the Nonconforming Material process and performs data analysis.
• Manages the Corrective Preventive Action Request process and performs data analysis.
• Reviews and approves work and test instructions
• Answers customer requests for corrective action.
• Writes Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and follows up on its corrections.
• Helps with the implementation of new procedures within the company
• Ensure changes to the Radiation Safety Management System are documented by either revising the affected documents or reviewing the revised documents.
• Review state and federal laws and Mistras O & E to recommend modifications to enhance and ensure the compliance, safety, and efficiency of the MISTRAS Radiation Safety Program.
• Perform and/or review investigations of overexposures, accidents, losses, thefts, unauthorized receipts, misuses, or other deviations from approved radiation safety practice and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Respond to radiation safety emergencies, and prepare and submit reports to the appropriate governing bodies.
• Perform radiation safety audits and recommend improvements at each service location within the Mistras network.
• Consolidate and computerize various program aspects. Improve and advance the overall culture of the Radiation Safety Program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• A High School Diploma is required as a minimum. Bachelors Degree in engineering, science, manufacturing, management or business is preferred.
• Must have several years of quality experience with a strong exposure to ISO-9000 registration and its maintenance
• Must have previous supervisory experience and be able to deal with diverse work groups and possess group facilitation skills, the ability to solve problems, and be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must possess the desire to develop position and take on a more compliant role in the future.
• Must have (or acquire) formal training in the establishment and maintenance of a Radiation protection program. Must possess experience in the establishment and maintenance of a radiation protection program.
• Must be a certified Radiographer
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Must be willing to travel – Minimum 40%.
• Must be willing to perform radiography at job sites as needed.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
• Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
