Phil Trach, NDT Technology Coordinator at Laboratory Testing Inc., has
successfully completed the requirements of the Pratt & Whitney Nondestructive
Test Qualification Specification (NDTQ) and is certified as the SIM Level 3. He is
responsible for verifying work performed by Level 1 and Level 2 technicians, for
overseeing training of nondestructive testing (NDT) technicians performing
testing and inspection for Pratt & Whitney suppliers, and for ensuring and
verifying compliance to Pratt & Whitney ultrasonic testing requirements.
Mr. Trach has been Laboratory Testing Inc.'s ASNT NDT Level III for ultrasonic
testing since 2007. His Pratt & Whitney SIM Level 3 certification ensures that
Laboratory Testing Inc. will maintain Pratt & Whitney approval for ultrasonic
testing of bar and tubular products.
Phil has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the
Pennsylvania State University. Before joining the NDT Department at Laboratory
Testing Inc. in 2005, he had many years of experience in engineering, testing,
and quality assurance for large and small businesses in the forging,
measurement and process industries.
At Laboratory Testing Inc., he has implemented numerous NDT process
improvements, from simpler test indicators, to test fixtures which have
produced a tenfold increase in testing speed, to improvement and clarification
of the hundreds of test procedures currently used.
