Opening Ceremony of National Centre for Non-destructive Testing

National Centre for non-destructive testing established in Kelaniya by Atomic
Energy Authority under the purview of the Ministry of Technology and Research
for enhancement of quality and productivity in the industrial field was declared
open by the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, recently.

Non-destructive testing ensures testing of any material without causing any
damage to the material. This technology is deployed to enhance productivity
and ensure safety wile preventing possible accidents during the testing process
of standard of factories, buildings, bridges, air crafts, ships, boilers etc. In view
of the rapid development process presently prevailing in Sri Lanka, non-
destructive testing system will be an essential technology in order to enhance the
quality in industry and construction field.

All relevant tests such as Radiographic testing, Ultra Solic Testing, Magnetic
Partial Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing and Eddy Current Testing could be
done in this research laboratory. It is also envisaged to conduct researches and
development activities pertaining to non-destrutive testing in this research
institute.

Minister Patalie Champaka Ranawaka, Deputy Minister Dulip Wijesekara and a
