A recent case study shows that using Vidisco's digital radiography systems, a shipyard managed to increase its production by more than 25%. There are several reasons for the increase in productivity. Vidisco's high quality panels are particularly sensitive; therefore they can produce great X-ray images with reduced doses. In the shipyard, using Vidisco's DR systems means smaller area closure, decreased facility shutdowns and, essentially, the ability to work around the clock. Vidisco just rel ...Read More.
Magnetic Analysis Corporation, a leader in nondestructive testing, is celebrating 85 years of designing and supplying innovative inspection instruments and systems for metal manufacturers throughout the world. Founded in 1928 in Long Island City, NY at a time when testing for quality purposes usually meant laboratory "sampling" techniques which essentially destroyed or altered part of the product being tested, MAC began working with electromagnetic techniques to "nondestructively" test steel ba ...Read More.
James Instruments Inc., manufacturer of the world's most advanced Non Destructive Test Equipment for construction materials, proudly presented Mr. Sam Na with the James Instruments Award at the 2013 ACI spring convention held in Minneapolis,MN. Mr. Sam Na from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) was selected by a committee of 228 members for his paper "A Technique for Improving the Damage Detection Ability of Electro-Mechanical Impedence Method on Concrete Structure". ...Read More.
Expert organisation acquires non-destructive testing market leader The international expert organisation DEKRA expands its industrial business considerably on the African continent. DEKRA has signed a purchase agreement for the full acquisition of the Raysonics Group in Vanderbijlpark south of Johannesburg. Raysonics is a market leader for non-destructive testing (NDT) in South Africa. Raysonics has over five locations in the major industrial centres of South Africa and employs over 300 highly ...Read More.
Portable Convenience, Powerful Results - All in the Palm of Your Hand The Pocket CORPAC™ detects active, localized corrosion before costly damage and its effects are seen or felt. Real- time corrosion monitoring identifies areas of concern be detecting pitting and stress corrosion cracking (SCC), which in turn can not only help prevent leaks or damage, but also halt the spread of active localized corrosion. In-service monitoring in high-temperature, high-noise environments with Pock ...Read More.
Spectronics Corporation has introduced the new PowerMAX™ 365 Series UV-A LED flood lamps. Each lamp features a panel of 16 powerful UV-A (365 nm) LEDs specially engineered for non-destructive testing applications. These versatile, stationary light sources can be installed overhead or in-line, and can be connected together to provide an even wider coverage area. The PowerMAX 365 Series lamps are available in four models: high-intensity and standard-intensity versions, each with or without ...Read More.
In an article published in Nature Photonics, researchers from the group led by Prof. Morgan Mitchell report the observation of a highly fragile and volatile body through a new quantum-mechanical measurement technique. Researchers applied the so-called "quantum non-demolition measurement" to a tiny cloud of atoms. They were able to observe the spinning of the electrons in the atoms, and more importantly, the atom cloud was not disturbed in the process. It is the first time quantum non-demolit ...Read More.

A novel type of tilt sensor may extend the capabilities of ultrasonic devices already used in a range of applications. Dolphins use echolocation to locate prey and navigate. Researchers have harnessed the same principle to determine the inclination of millimeter-sized ultrasonic sensors. Echolocation is a powerful technique that uses sound or ultrasound waves to locate objects and surfaces. Ships and submarines, for example, use it to avoid collisions, and dolphins and microbats use it t ...Read More.
