Responsible as part of a team for the starting up and running of the crane and lifting equipment department within the Ras Shukeir oil and gas base in Egypt. Responsible for teams of local labour conducting Crane and lifting equipment test, inspection and repair onshore and offshore including non-destructive testing. Personally conducting LOLER and PUWER crane and lifting equipment surveys/examinations both onshore and offshore. Responsible for the introduction and running of the Velosi certification programme.

Having served a four-year apprenticeship as a Rigger I now have over 35 years experience in the Inspection, testing, manufacture and repair of all types of cranes, hoists and lifting equipment. In both onshore and offshore environments. During my service in the crane and lifting equipment industry I have carried out testing and inspection work for major Companies such as BP, Shell, Centrica, Pertrofac, Seadrill and Sparrows Offshore Ltd. I have also carried out LOLER surveys for Lloyds register and been responsible for projects in various petro chemical plants in the UK.
As an experienced Rigger/Slinger I have been responsible for the inspection and renewal of Stern door, ramps and elevator wires in the shipping industry. Carrying out training in the safe use and inspection of lifting equipment to local Companies within the Yorkshire area.
