I returned to a permanent position within Universal Marine Inspections after the company’s relocation to Silsbee, Texas. I assumed many of the same responsibilities as before along with the additional duties of project management and coordinating employees both in the field, and in the office. I am responsible for dealing with any problems or concerns by either the customer or our employees on a daily basis. I assist the company President with project planning along with estimating and risk management. I devised procedures for both training new employees and for the reporting of their inspections to myself and the office personnel. I also serve as a liaison between employees within the company and the president of the company to ensure an optimum working environment. At any given time I have been directly responsible for 2-20 employees.

09/05 - 07/06 Structural Draftsman, Fittz & Shipman Consulting Engineers-Beaumont, Texas

Upon my departure from Universal Marine, I was offered a position within Fittz & Shipman, a local engineering and consulting firm. I worked closely with engineers on designing and producing structural steel projects. I was tasked with the responsibility of communicating with the architects to whom we were contracted to, in order to ensure that our engineering designs and specifications met with their architectural concepts. My duties included generating foundation plans, framing plans, and details for both using AutoCAD software. My duties also included checking structural steel shop drawings once the job had came back from the steel detailer. Our projects varied greatly, from simple projects, such as a loading dock at a warehouse, to something more complicated such as a complete High School project from the ground up.

06/03 - 09/05 Draftsman, Universal Marine Inspections-Lumberton, Texas

I was formerly employed by a NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) company that inspects offshore drilling platforms. I was responsible for turning rough sketches into NTS isometric drawings that map locations where ultrasonic thickness readings were taken. I was also responsible for data input and analysis along with the reporting of said data to either ABS or Lloyds of London in their pre-established formats. I have also done arrangement drawings for various platforms, which I then used to devise fire and safety plans. Unfortunate downturns in available projects lead to my departure with a blessing from the President of the company, along with an agreement that I would cover any future projects on a contract basis. This agreement was maintained until July of 2006 when I was offered a permanent position within company. (See above for further explanation)
