HT2 NEC-4942/4944 Non-Destructive Testing (VT, PT, MT, UT) Level II Inspector
Conducted thousands of non-destructive testing inspections on ship and submarine hulls, pipes, valves, flanges, tanks, and pressure vessels, including welds. Used Visual, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, and Ultrasonic inspection methods in accordance with standards set forth in NSTM Chapter 074 Volume 2. Evaluated inspection results and determined accept or reject. Ensured quality assurance by analyzing blueprints and technical manuals for accuracy of materials, procedures, boundaries, and specifications needed for welding and NDT jobs. Identified materials using a Generic Material Identification X-ray Analyzer. Prepared records, reports, and drawings using Microsoft Word; reviewed repair quality assurance forms; reviewed formal and controlled work packages; maintained an accurate and up to date inventory of all Ultrasonic Testing equipment utilizing Microsoft Excel; used Microsoft Power Point for in shop training presentations; technical librarian for all divisional technical manuals keeping an accurate and up to date inventory; trained and supervised junior personnel in VT, MT, PT, and UT methods; trained welders on weld defects and acceptance criteria; assisted level 3 NDT examiners in writing and editing procedures. HT3 Hull Maintenance Technician
Performed hull maintenance using various welding methods, to include oxyacetylene, silver brazing, shield metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), and cutting metal components. Planned, supervised, and performed tasks necessary for fabrication, installation and repair of all types of shipboard structures, plumbing, and piping systems; organized, supervised, and trained personnel in maintenance and hull repair; supervised and performed tasks in procurement and issuance of supplies and repair parts; instructed personnel and enforced safety and security precautions; prepared records and reports. Assembled sheet metal products; installed insulation and lagging materials; repaired deck drains, metal furniture, piping assemblies, structural damage; replaced commodes, urinals, components of valves, equipment flanges, faucets, pipe fittings, performed all planned maintenance, repairs, part replacement, and troubleshooting of the vacuum collection holding and transfer sewage system throughout the ship. Maintained up to date calibration of engineering and damage control system gauges
