SUMMARY:

Perform Nondestructive Testing inspection, analysis and reporting to ensure construction meets all codes, engineering, and client procedures and specification. Ensure that the services provided are performed in accordance with the project requirements.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Inspect and test welded joints of work in progress and of completed units for visible defects, correct dimensions, joint strength, bead formation, weld penetration, and conformance with layout, blueprint and work order specifications,

•Test and inspect work performed by construction contractors for compliance to contract specifications and drawings. Ensure client that its assemblies, materials and products meet quality standards.

•Record inspection and test data.

•Mark defective pieces and report findings per the client’s requirements.

•Monitor subordinate inspectors to ensure conformance to contract requirements.

•Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities

•Ability to travel. Valid Driver’s license is required

•Must be able to work independently

•Ability to read and interpret drawings and documents such as codes, standards, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

•Knowledge of welding principles and metallurgical properties.

•Knowledge of Testing Methods, Inspection practices and procedures.

•Knowledge of AWS, ASME and other codes related to assignments.

Education

•High School/Vocational School Diploma or equivalent education and/or experience.

Experience

•2 years related experience.

•Previous experience in inspection of structural welds primarily in structural steel beams, piping, buildings, bridges and miscellaneous steel components.

Certifications

•Level 2 in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)






PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Construction work environment.

•Ability to lift 50 pounds

•Exposure to outside weather.

Equipment Used

•AWS specified inspection equipment

•MT, PT, UT equipment as assigned

Travel Required

•Daily travel to client’s work site which may involve out of town travel for long periods of time.
