Overview:

Acuren requires a Machinist; with machine shop experience, a mechanical aptitude shop math skills, the ability to safely and effectively operate a manual lathe, CNC lathe and CNC machining center. Machinery includes a cylindrical surface grinder, metal lathe, CNC machining center, thread grinder, horizontal and vertical band saw, and hand held grinders. The individual must be able to work as part of a team, and support the physical testing, engineering. Also required is a high standard of quality, ensuring all test specimens machined are accurate to the particular specification and within tolerances.

Primary responsibilities include - but are not limited to:

• Cutting and preparing samples exactly as instructed from other qualified personnel including engineers, technologists, technicians personnel.
• Ensure machined samples are de-burred and all sharp edges removed, and are identified with accurate markings including sample ID, job number, and reference information as per quality assurance program.
• Ensure all extra pieces are properly handled and either discarded or provided with the samples to PTT.
• Working in a safe and cautious manner, respecting moving equipment; identifying and mitigating all potential hazards.
• Identify and bring to the attention of the PT Supervisor all issues which relate to the function, safety and operation of machinery and identify potential problems.
• Cleaning machining cuttings and debris on a daily basis prior to leaving for the day.

? Appropriate and proven experience in the field of manual and CNC machining
? Minimum 3 years’ experience

Other:
Sample preparation and machining is critical to the success of the physical testing department. The machinist must take pride in his/ her work and ensure that the work is performed accurately, by taking the time do it correctly in a reasonable period of time.
