Tooling Design Engineer – cutting tools, CNC lathes, screw machine, rotary transfer / dial transfer

We are searching for a Tool Design Engineer with cutting tool design experience. Past experience designing cutting tools to optimize processes is needed. The focus of this position is metal turning. Knowledge of Gd&T, tool geometry, cutting tool materials and tool coatings is also needed. Past experience developing cutting tool solutions for CNC lathes, swiss CNC lathes, dial transfer, rotary transfer and multi spindle automotive screw machines. Candidates with experience designing cutting tools such as special carbide inserts, form tools, shave tools, reamers, recess tooling, drills, step drills, skive tools, chamfers, grooving, cut off, special combination tools and any special cutting tools. Knowledge of Solidworks is preferred, but not required. The Tooling Engineer designs tooling to optimize the process prior to production. This position involves working with the tool room, supports production, troubleshoots tooling issues, interacts with machinists, CNC programmers, manufacturing engineers and cutting tool vendors.

MUST HAVE: a minimum of 5 years of cutting tool design. Knowledge of tooling CNC turning equipment is required. The ideal candidate will have experience tooling CNC lathes, rotary / dial transfer machines and/or screw machines. Experience with tool coatings and cutting tool materials is needed.
