Position Title: Area Operations Manager – Regina SK
FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried)
Reports to: Regional Manager
Manages: Branch Personnel
Other Requirements: Occasional out of town travel.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for managing and coordinating all activities and
operations to satisfy customer
requirements for company contract services within assigned
area. These include operations and
related administrative support activities. The Area
Operations Manager is responsible for operating on a cost-
effective, profitable basis within the framework of company
approved policies, objectives, and budgets. Supervises the
operations supervisors, account representatives and branch
administrator in his/her area. Reports directly to the
Regional Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Plans and monitors operational activities in
assigned
area.
Evaluates performances against goals and
suggests
improvements where needed.
Stays up to date on industrial trends.
Implements all short-term operating
objectives, plans and
programs.
Assists Regional Manager in developing
medium to long-term
operating strategies and
recommendations for plans and programs for increasing
operating efficiencies.
Participates in major sales efforts when
necessary,
including keeping accounts current and
calling on late accounts.
Provides a clear channel of communication
and coordination
between operating personnel
and functional counterparts in the company's departments.
Assists Regional Manager in the preparation
of and
approval of area capital, expense, and
operating budgets.
Exercises final authority over the
implementation of area
operations.
Coordinates staffing, compensation, hiring,
termination,
transfer, and promotion of personnel
in assigned area so as to maximize efficient operations and
employee morale.
Have good working knowledge of all company
products and
services that are available to our
customers, including cross selling and promoting of all
applicable products and services in
area of responsibility.
Learn and abide by company policies and
procedures.
Performs all other duties as required by
Regional Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer Bachelors Degree in Business or
related area or 5+
years equivalent practical CGSB experience.
Must have knowledge of CGSB Non-Destructive
Testing
operations,
Requires previous supervisory and sales
experience,
Prefer excellent written and verbal
communications skills.
Must possess comprehensive knowledge of
operating policies
and procedures.
Must be able to audit the flow of data to
ensure
reliability, develop check points and control
the reliability of company data.
Must have proven ability to understand,
administer and
maintain a policy and procedures
manual, branch profit and loss statements and issue periodic
statistical reports of a general
and/or specialized nature.
Ability to complete work assignments and
proposals in an
allotted time period
Must have a proven ability to deal with
personnel problems
as they arise.
Must have the ability to operate necessary
office
equipment and business machines,
including computer systems.
Prefer knowledge of all duties assigned to
area operations
employees.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is conducted in a semi-private office
setting.
Field duties may require outdoor work in a
plant
atmosphere.
Interaction with other crew employees, as
well as
supervisors and client personnel.
ay include working in plant and/or
shop areas around
production machinery with extreme
noise levels.
Must be able to wear safety equipment as
required by the
safety department for personal
protection.
May be at more than one job site in a day
and must be able
to tolerate climate changes.
May be required to travel out of town on a
periodic basis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to walk and climb except when
performing non-
field duties.
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or
other
communication capabilities, with or without
reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to
communicate effectively;
Sufficient vision or other powers of
observation, with or
without reasonable
accommodations, which permits employee to investigations;
Sufficient manual dexterity with or without
reasonable

Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver
within a refinery
or plant environment to include
the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders
and stairwells.
