Mechanical Engineer (Entry Level) with Mistras Group, Inc. –
La Porte, TX

Mistras Group, Inc. is seeking fulltime Mechanical Engineer
who’s interested in learning and working in the exciting
Fitness for Service industry. This fulltime position will be
based out of our La Porte, TX location. The Mechanical
Engineer will perform pressure equipment damage assessments.
They will also be responsible for design, repair, and re-
rate calculations, Fitness for Service evaluations per API
579 criteria, and providing Mechanical Engineering support.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

• Evaluation of pressure vessels, piping and above ground
storage tank design, maintenance and mechanical integrity
for life-cycle evaluation.
• Developing finite element analysis (FEA) models using
Solidworks/Simulation, to include linear and non-linear
stress analysis, creep damage modeling, and fatigue
screening and analysis.
• Perform stress analysis, applying the ultimate stress,
ultimate shear stress, and von Mises stress failure theories
to shells, heads, junctions, nozzles, and other pressure
equipment geometries exhibiting complex stress fields.
• Perform (Fitness for Service) FFS analysis utilizing
Signal FFS software in assessing post-construction damage,
to include general corrosion, local thinning, brittle
fracture, crack-like flaws, and pitting.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• BS degree in engineering, mathematics or pure science
discipline.
• Knowledge, experience, or interest in pressure vessels,
process piping, and aboveground atmospheric storage tank
design.
• Knowledge, experience, or interest in post-construction
Engineering and Fitness for Service assessments.
• Knowledge, experience, or interest in pressure vessels,
piping, and above ground storage tank design, maintenance,
and mechanical integrity.
• Knowledge, experience, or interest in petrochemical,
chemical, refining, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical, food
processing, pipeline, and conventional power industries.
• Knowledge, experience, or interest in (Non Destructive
Testing) NDT technologies, and their applications and
limitations in conducting fixed equipment fitness for
service damage assessments preferred.
• Must be willing to travel 25%.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

• Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
