Successful candidates will conduct inspections of fire
apparatus such as aerial devices, pump testing and ground
ladders in accordance with National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) requirements. The inspections will be
conducted at fire apparatus manufacturers and in the
field for various fire departments, dealerships and
service centers using visual, mechanical, electrical and
hydraulic inspections and measurements, magnetic particle
testing, ultrasonic’s testing, liquid penetrant testing
and non-destructive testing methods.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

• Attention to detail is critical in this position as it
involves entering data for annual certification of fire
apparatus aerials, pump testing and ground ladder
inspections. Firetruck Inspector
• There is extensive travel involved, both locally and
overnight, requiring on-site inspection visits. A good
driving record is mandatory
• The work involves being able to lift at least 70
pounds and working in confined spaces at times.
• Candidates must possess a working knowledge of
Microsoft Word and Excel since most of the testing data
is entered on a laptop computer.
• ASNT Level II MT PT UT VT certification or Emergency
Vehicle Technician (EVT)
• F-2, F-3, F-4, F-5 certification is desired.
• Experience performing NDT on fire apparatus and
equipment or related transportation vehicles.
• Strong communication skills are necessary, both
written and oral, as well as mechanical aptitude and
technical skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• ASNT Level II MT PT UT VT certification or Emergency
Vehicle Technician (EVT) F-2, F-3, F-4, F-5 certification
is desired.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

• The work involves being able to lift at least 70
pounds and working in confined spaces at times.
