API Inspector: 1169

JOB DESCRIPTION: Inspect and write reports on New Pipeline Construction. Responsible for oversight and observations on pipeline construction projects providing industry best practices, safety, quality assurance, and common sense solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform general pipeline construction inspection and observation. Effectively coordinate and communicate with all stake holders. Conduct inspection duties in a professional, honest, and ethical manner on the job site.
• Personnel and general pipeline safety oversight. Must know required PPE, confined space, hazards, stop work, and other OSHA safety requirements, regulations, and procedures.
• Environmental and pollution control working closely with Environmental Inspector and Chief Inspector.
• General Construction Inspections working closely with all stages of construction and promote a positive safety culture.
• Properly interpret regulations, codes and industry standards.
• Performs visual inspection and documents progress on pipeline construction working closely with Chief Inspector.
• Drive a vehicle safely in potential hazardous conditions.
• Be proficient with standard computer software (such as MS Word and Excel), take photos, and be able to write daily detailed observational reports using professional techniques with clear and concise communication.
• Maintain a positive relationship between client, owner/operator, contractors, and coworkers; promote a positive working relationship with all personnel on the pipeline project.

Skills:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
• Hands on practical construction experience or familiar with clearing and grading, trenching, excavation, pipe installation, and backfill required.
• Experience creating qualitative and quantitative reports.
• Ability to read and understand as-built surveys and construction plans.
• 5 years’ experience in inspection related activities (QC, NDT, CWI, API, etc.)
• Current American Petroleum Institute (API) API 1169 required.
• Current American Petroleum Institute (API) API 653, API 510, or API 570 certification preferred.
• Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in NACE Coatings and Codes is desirable.
• Extensive knowledge of industry standards including AWS, ASME, API, and ASNT as well as working knowledge of NDE methodologies.
• Must have extensive knowledge of CS-S-9 pressure testing (Hydrostatic/Pneumatic) safety guidelines.
• Must be knowledgeable in 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926, 40 CFR 112, 40 CFR 122, 49 CFR 192, and 49 CFR 195.
• Must be knowledgeable in DOT-PHSMA rules and regulations.
• Current Drivers License from state of residence.
• Documentation of work experience required.
• Must be able to travel out of town 50% or more of the time and work various shifts.
• Ability to meet company certification standards.
• Drug and alcohol screens performed randomly.

SHIFT/HOURS: Shifts & Hours will vary – Must be flexible to work overtime – Travel required 50% to 75% of time
