Position Purpose:
The Safety Coordinator position is responsible for assisting the (HSE) Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager in effectively translating governmental compliance requirements and corporate standards into efficient safe-work practices within a multi-location company. Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments in order to implement and maintain programs and procedures to eliminate or control workplace hazards and prevent disease or injury.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assist the HSE Manager in developing and maintaining all aspects of safety management system and activities
* Facilitate and monitor compliance and continual improvement efforts. Provide technical assistance and support to management and employees.
* Execute hazard assessments, Conduct PPE evaluations. Develop and Maintain written programs. May conduct HSE audits and IH sampling
* Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals
* Respond and investigate incidents to determine root cause and closure activities
* Identify, facilitate, or conduct appropriate safety training. Maintain training website, monitor and track completion.
* Support and coach facility safety teams and individual members.
* Engage all employees and management in risk reduction and performance improvement. Develop and track progress of strategies which focus on employee engagement toward HSE policies and procedures.
* Site visits, both in and out of state (up to 25%)
* Perform duties of HSE Manager in his/her absence.
* Ability to recognize occupational exposures and provide solutions to mitigate loss and reduce job hazards
* Ensure efficient and economical utilization of equipment and resources. Provide for safekeeping of equipment and supplies.

Knowledge and Skills:
* General understanding of the company business.
* Adaptability, and ability to collaborate, and build and maintain professional employee relations.
* Knowledge of OSHA, MIOSHA, Provincial, EPA and DOT regulations. Ability to interpret and compose documents, procedure manuals and correspondence.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence without having direct control. Proficient with computers and applications, including but not limited to, MS Outlook, Word and Excel.

Education and Work Experience:
* Degree in ocupational Health & Safety, or similar required.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in Safety Management within commercial or industrial environment.
