Description:
The "Radiation Safety Specialist" is responsible for, but not limited to, the following job descriptions:
• Assist the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure all Department of Environmental Quality and Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations are followed;
• Work with all Radiography Inspectors to ensure Company, federal and state regulations set forth are followed;
• Review and organize daily safe work policies;
• Monitor radiation exposure, and report to the Radiation Safety Officer and Radiography Inspectors of their daily, monthly and annual dose;
• Track and issue Radiation Safety Personal Protective Equipment;
• Monitor the Radiation Safety Field Assessment Program;
• Perform radiation & general safety field assessments to maintain state and federal requirements;
• Ensure all newly hired employees complete radiation safety orientation and are project ready;
• Manage source exchange transportation from the manufacturer to the division;
• Assist in logistical efforts for radiation safety compliance and project assignments when necessary;
• Assist with managing the Radiation Safety security programs of the Company;
• Schedule, administer and maintain instructor based training programs; and,
• Any other duties assigned by the Radiation Safety Officer.
