Overview

Under general supervision and following established policies, the NDT Technician (Level 2) performs assignments requiring general use and application of concepts, practices and techniques.

This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.

Essential Functions
20% - Set up and operate conventional and Digital Radiographic (DR) inspection equipment, including Computed Tomography (CT), to inspect parts, materials, and assemblies to determine the existence and extent of discontinuities.

30% - Use complex Software programs (efX-CT, efX-DR, imageJ®, VG StudioMax®) to evaluate digital images and CT data files.

15% - Interpret both digital and film based radiographic images to determine location of subsurface and surface defects, such as inclusions, cracks, porosity, voids, unbonds, etc. Effectively communicate findings and relay information accurately through proper reporting processes and inspection reports.

15% - Performs inspection operations in accordance with Quality Control Standards, written specifications, or verbal instructions. Participates as required in product/process auditing through hardware/data verification and Statistical Process Control (SPC) verification activities.

10% - Completes all related documentation.

10% - Maintains NDT Equipment.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Requirements
Will need to Supply Testing Records and related Documented OJT records , all from NAS-410 certified Trainers and on NAS-410.

High School Graduate or equivalent and six years of directly related experience with prior certification in NDT as a Radiographic Level III technician, with additional experience and/or certification in Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, or Ultrasonics. The above requirement may be reduced by completion of at least a 2 year degree in Engineering or Science study at an accredited school of higher learning. Must have a thorough knowledge of theory, methods and procedures for qualifying disciplines.

U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
