YOUR OPPORTUNITY:
In this leadership role, you will have an opportunity to oversee and mentor a team of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) professionals performing fundamental NDT inspections and examinations to ensure the integrity of Canadian Natural’s Oil Sands assets. As the Lead Hand - NDT, you will spend time in both the office and the field, supervising and sharing your knowledge and expertise with junior technicians, and performing critical work in the field. You will join a dedicated and highly skilled in-house NDT team, using advanced inspection methods such as PAUT, who have a direct impact on the safety and reliability of our operations.

**Please note, the shift rotation for this role is 7 days on, 7 days off**

This position is based at our Horizon Oil Sands site in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
• Relocation to Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray
• Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out and Accommodations Program with charter flights from Calgary or Edmonton

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Ensure that NDT examinations are executed in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner, in accordance with approved procedures
• Provide mentorship and guidance to a team of NDT Technicians
• Demonstrate your in depth NDT knowledge, and provide recommendations to the team
• Review and provide feedback on NDT reports for completeness and accuracy prior to issuing
• Ensure continuous production improvement by providing feedback and guidance to Technicians
• Act as the Shift Supervisor as needed
• Write and review departmental procedures prior to having NDT Level III approval

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 7+ years of experience using NDT techniques, procedures and equipment in the Oil and Gas industry, with 3+ years of supervisory experience
• Ideal candidate will hold the following certifications:
o Industrial Ultrasonics Level II (UT II) CGSB
o Magnetic Particle Testing Level II (MT II) CGSB
o Liquid Penetrant Testing Level II (PT II) CGSB
o Positive Material Identification (XRF I) CGSB
o Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing Level II (PAUT II) (PCN or CSWIP)
o Experience and knowledge in field hardness and ferrite testing (HT and FT)
o Training and/or certification in Radiography (RT)
o Training and/or certification in Eddy Current (ET)
• Demonstrated ability to perform inspections and to interpret results
• College Technical Diploma preferred but High School Diploma or GED is required as a minimum
