Evident Ultrasonic Inspection Equipment
Daher-Socata Chooses Tecnatom for their State-of-the-Art Inspection System
Posted:
Daher-Socata, the Aerospace & Defence division of Daher, has awarded
Tecnatom for the supply of a state-of-the-art inspection system. With this new
equipment, the French company will inspect very complex pieces of its new BZ1
helicopter. The system is based on a "twin robots over linear tracks" mechanical
solution, with an additional turn-table and an immersion tank for the specific
inspection of Omegas traps of the Airbus A350, program in which Daher-Socata
is also involved. The inspection system will be located in Tarbes plant (southern
France).

Daher-Socata has consolidated both its status as a tier 1 equipment supplier and
aircraft manufacturer in the Aerospace industry. It is a leading company that has
facilities located in Europe, USA and Australia, among others.

Tecnatom thus continues its expansion in the French market, which began four
year ago with the supply to Airbus in Nantes of an ultrasonic inspection system.
It has also provided a second system applied to the inspection of the acoustic
panels of the A320neo, and the novelty in this case is the use of ultrasonic air-
coupling transducers. Also in 2014 acceptance testing was performed on the
inspection system supplied by Tecnatom to Corse Composites Aéronautiques
(CCA) for its facilities in Ajaccio (Corsica). Finally, it has been made a significant
improvement and update for Thales-Alenia of a gantry type inspection system,
previously supplied by Tecnatom for its plant in Cannes.

In 2004, as part of its expansion strategy and business concentration, Tecnatom
did assume the leadership of the French company Metalscan, specialized in
ultrasonic inspection systems and firmly established in France and Italy with a
diverse portfolio of customers belonging to the aerospace sector. Also in 2004,
Tecnatom did enter as majority shareholder in the French company Multi2000
(M2M), which also gave a strong impetus to its strategy of growth in the
European market.
