TWI Training and Examination Services now boasts state-of-
the-art equipment and specialist training facilities as part
of a recent expansion of TWI’s head office at Abington, near
Cambridge, in the UK with almost 850m2 of the new
development dedicated to providing world-class training.
In addition, the new spacious purpose-built facilities
include dedicated NDT teaching labs with advanced NDT
equipment, a 196m2 welder training centre, classrooms
equipped with the latest audio-visual technology to enable
remote teaching, and assessment centres to carry out secure
electronic examinations.

Course attendees can also relax, socialise and enjoy meals
from 7.30am to 7.00pm served in the new 300-seat staff and
visitor on-site restaurant.

With courses operating in the new facilities since Spring,
the feedback from delegates and training staff on the new
facilities has been overwhelmingly positive.

Dr. Marcus Jones, Global Manager Training and Examinations
said, "The new £60 million development brings TWI's advanced
research, engineering, materials, and training, closer
together to offer students from around the world an
exceptional learning experience. TWI Training is helping
industry improve safety, integrity and business performance
by enhancing the competence of its students."

As well as a new base for the training arm of the company,
the three-building development also provides new research
and development laboratories for TWI, including a 3200m2
engineering hall, and houses the headquarters of the Welding
Institute and the National Structural Integrity Research
Centre, a hub for postgraduate education integrated within
TWI.

The site was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal on
16 September 2015, when HRH The Princess Royal toured the
new facilities and met with staff and students. To read more
