Exova Grainger and Worrall Lab Receives UKAS Accreditation
Posted:
Global testing and certification group Exova has received UKAS accreditation for its Grainger & Worrall (GW) on-site testing laboratory. The facility is now accredited to ISO 17025 as a recognised and independently audited laboratory.

The dedicated mechanical testing laboratory, based at GW’s manufacturing plant in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, conducts mechanical tensile testing on ferrous and non-ferrous cast materials and components. The accreditation comes following a rigorous evaluation including interviews, inspections and reviews of all procedures.

As well as a 100KN load capacity dual column frame for conducting tensile testing, the on-site laboratory features a dedicated machining section, housing CNC lathes and milling machines for the preparation of tensile specimens from separately cast and in-cast parts.

Commenting on the agreement, Edward Grainger, Managing Director (prototype) at GW said: "We’re delighted that Exova’s on-site Grainger & Worrall lab has gained accreditation. Having world-class testing equipment in easy reach is a key contributing factor to our ongoing success.

"The lab allows us to maintain global quality standards and maintain our commitment to reducing lead times for our castings across our motorsport, small series and prototype operations."

Paul Barry, Group Managing Director, Industries, at Exova, said: "We’re thrilled to continue our long-standing relationship with Grainger & Worrall and provide the team with even greater quality assurance and faster turnaround times."

Grainger & Worrall is the market leader in complex structural castings for the automotive, motorsport, aerospace and defence sectors and has helped to develop some of the world’s most important and ground-breaking engines.
