Oceaneering Launches TRND Corrosion Monitoring System

Oceaneering International, Inc. ("Oceaneering") today announced the launch of the TRND system, a new technological collaboration with UK-based partners Ionix Advanced Technologies and Inductosense, that provides innovative and interactive cloud-based corrosion and erosion trend analysis.


With TRND, Oceaneering offers the industry cost-effective in-service condition monitoring that removes significant investment in extra infrastructure and hardware. Built on the industry-leading, high-temperature HotSenseTM platform by Ionix Advanced Technologies, and wirelessly connected by Inductosenseís fast-acquisition, battery-free Wireless and Non Destructive (WAND) technology, the TRND system can be retrospectively installed and implemented within the harshest of environments.

At less than 1.2kgs total mass, TRND can be deployed anywhere including elbows and via rope access. Absolute thickness better than 0.1 mm across the temperature range.

Within minutes of installation, operators can acquire quantitative wall thickness data, which may be remotely analyzed and reported through the cloud-based data management system. The systemís reduced profile allows retrofit installation to existing assets under insulation (IUI) maintaining integrity of Corrosion Under Insulation defenses. TRND offers intrinsically safe ultrasonic thickness measurements in Zone 0 explosive environments up to 350oC/660oF.

Ionix Advanced Technologies, creators of the HotSenseTM platform, are based in Leeds, UK. Inductosense has developed the WAND system and is based in Bristol, UK.
