Non-Destructive Testing Technician

• Level II in Ultrasonic Testing (Shearwave), Magnetic Particle Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, and Radiographic Testing (Source and Tube).

• Perform NDT on Arleigh Burke class U.S. Navy destroyers and DDG-1000 class ships. Weldments and other ship's components inspected: Peripheral Vertical Launching System (PVLS) inspection, high pressure piping, tanks, hull structure (seams, strakes, etc.), and other sites with MT, PT, UT, or RT as required. Quality Control/Quality Assurance

• Work within the Inspection Management System (IMS) database to assure the proper NDT is performed on each finished weld in all Hydrocracker and CAT Feed Hydrotreater modules before releasing the piping to Coatings, Insulation, and Turnover group for the client.

• Review and audit work packages and piping prints to verify weld/valve/connection location as well as material verification and testing requirements according to each piping specification

• Utilize IMS to send technicians to perform designated NDT on each weld as the Piping Specifications require, including Hardness Testing, Ferrite Testing, Positive Material Identification, Radiography, Magnetic Particle Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, and Liquid Penetrant Testing.
Comments
• Extensive experience inspecting mostly carbon steel welds ranging in thickness from 0.25” to more than 4” in various configurations requiring multiple angles and scanning techniques
• Experience inspecting dissimilar metal welds (stainless to carbon), valves, hangers, aluminum, copper nickel, and brazed joints, including those on high pressure piping and within tanks, both in submarine systems and on surface ships
• Experience on AutoCAD, Tomoview, and daily plotting of Scan Plans for welds to prove UT scanning coverage and mapping indications for repair
• Experience working with PAUT and TOFD automated and semi-automated system setup and breakdown
• Experience inspecting all piping components including hangers, valves, fasteners, unions, weld integrity, and noise-sensitive components
• Experience using special procedures and special calibrations unique to naval ship architecture
• Extensive experience in auditing work packages, including piping drawings, material verification and drawing to specification comparisons
• Extensive experience writing a variety of papers, including formal reports and essays, as well as experience editing and proofreading company procedures
• Proficient in the Inspection Management System (IMS), and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
