Non-Destructive Testing is a specialized branch of Engineering Science and is a part of quality control (QC), which uses Ionizing Radiation (Radiographic Testing), Ultrasonic Sound Waves (Ultrasonic Testing), Magnetic Flux (Magnetic Particle Testing) etc. to test the integrity of casting, forging welding etc. without impairing its usefulness.
In the event a fresh mechanical engineering graduate looking for a placement in QA/QC department of an Engineering Construction Company needs special training on welding inspection, non destructive testing, coating inspection etc.
As you know, engineering companies are involved in construction and maintenance of industrial projects such as Oil Field Industries, Refineries, Pipelines, Ship Building, Aircraft, Bridges, Power Plants, Nuclear Projects, Cement Plants, chemical plants, fertilizers etc. and are constructed in accordance with International Quality Standards such as:
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME Standards)
American Petroleum Institute (API Standards)
American Welding Society (AWS Standards)
American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM Standards)
National Aerospace Standards (NAS Standards)
American National Standards Institute (ANSI Standards)
European National Standard
Hence engineers should be capable to follow these standards during design, construction / fabrication, installation and maintenance of projects. ASNT Level II certification is considered as minimum qualification to perform NDT activities in these projects. Personnel, thus trained, have got opportunities to work in Gulf, Far East, South East and Western countries.

We issue ASNT level I / Level II certificates upon successful completion of training which is recognized all over the world. We also provide training and certification on National Aerospace Standard (NAS410) and European National Standard (EN473).

1. Organization:
Metalscan Inspection Services is an ISO certified organization in the field of Non Destructive Testing and our prime scopes are services, consultancy, training and certification to the clients. Our head office is at Chennai and training divisions operates in Kerala at Kochin and Kozhikode. In addition to that we may arrange training anywhere in Kerala (Trivandrum, Pathanamthitta, Kannur, Kollam, Thrissur etc.) provided that there a minimum of 6 candidates.
2. Our faculties:
• ASNT Level III / NAS 410 Level III / EN 473 Level III
• Radiation Safety classes handled by BARC certified RSO/Site-In-Charge.
• Welding Defects: Certified Welding Inspector (AWS – CWI)
• More than 15 years experience in the field of NDT (India and abroad)
• Conversant in ASME, API, AWS and BS Standards
• Radiographic test film interpretation (RTFI) is taken care by Saudi Aramco certified RTFI with more than 10 years experience as RTFI.
Please note that availability of qualified / experienced faculty is very limited in Kerala.

• High intensity viewer, Densitometer and Hundreds of film for RTFI practice.
Magnetic Particle Testing:
• DC and AC Electromagnet (Yoke)
• Prodes
• Bench Type Equipment (cost around Rs. 5 Lakh)

• Manual Processing system
• Semi Automated Processing systems
