Non-Destructive Testing Technician

Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Siemens Power Generation in the UK has more than 100 years’ experience and a well-established reputation in the design, supply and servicing of major power plants throughout the UK and around the world. We maintain the efficiency of our steam and gas turbine generators through effective maintenance and repair, and expect our new products to set new industry standards.
To meet sustained workload and reinforce the existing NDT inspection services who form part of our Operations group in Newcastle, a permanent requirement has arisen for an experienced NDT Technician.
As part of the NDT Inspection team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of turbine generator components in accordance with defined standards, using a range of recognised nationally and internationally approved non-destructive testing techniques. You will also produce written technical reports on findings.
It is essential that you have the ability to work to high quality standards, with excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with and make recommendations to both internal and external customers.
Skills:
You will be qualified to (and have up to date competency assessment in) PCN level 2 in the following disciplines: MPI/Penetrant, Ultrasonics, Radiography/Interpretation.
An ONC or City & Guilds qualification in an engineering discipline would be preferred. You will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within power generation. A flexible approach is essential, as is a willingness to occasionally travel to customer sites and to work additional hours if required.
