Gamesa Wind is the second largest vertically integrated Wind Power Company in the world and is in the process of setting up 3 Wind Turbine assembly plants in Fairless Hills, PA and 1 Turbine Blade Facility already in production in Johnstown, PA. Production operations are planned to begin start-up operations commencing August 2006 at our Fairless Hills, PA facility.

Candidates MUST possess an AWS Certified Weld Inspector Certificate (CWI). A strong welding inspection background and NDT certifications are a plus. Experience with Microsoft Office computer programs Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access are a plus.

CWI Responsibilities & Duties:
• Perform receiving inspections of metal sheet/plates to include Lot No and Heat Treat traceability numbers/certifications
• Create NCR’s Non-Conformances using the Company Non-conformance procedures on defective material received or non-conforming processes.
• Some UT Ultrasonic Inspection and Dye Penetrant testing will be expected on an as needed basis and training and certification in these testing methods will be provided.
• Knowledge of the ASME BVP Codes Inspections and AWS D1.1
• Perform in-process and final inspections of paint coating thickness requirements as necessary
• Final & In-Process Inspections of weldments
• Create Quality Inspection documents inspecting critical dimensions to drawings and specifications.
• Witness welders sign-offs on shop travelers and at in-process control points in order to verify accurate process documentation

o CWI’s will be performing in-process and final inspections of Sub merged arc welding, on large steel plates that are rolled and welded.
o CWI’s will be performing in-process and final inspections on large application SAW Submerged Arc Welding
o Must have experience working in an industrial large equipment and noisy environment similar to bridge/ship building or large boilers or presser vessels.
o Will work closely with the Quality Manager, Welding Engineer and fellow inspectors
o CWI will have unique opportunities to identify continuous process improvements
o Must have inspection experience working with large thick steel plate weldments.
o Must be willing to work alternating shifts as needed.
Skills:
Qualification Requirements:
3-5 years experience at the CWI level and or a 2 year vocational/technical degree is desired. Any welding inspection training either conducted or attended is a plus. Strong knowledge of general steel welding and fabrication specifically in SAW Submerged Arc Welding is required. A good working knowledge of ASME, ASTM, ASNT and AWS codes and standards are desired. Strong experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, process set-ups and process monitoring are a plus.
