OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
1. To acquire and report accurate data for monitoring machinery condition using ONE of the following Predictive Technologies:
i. Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspection, to incl. magnetic particle, (MPI), liquid penetrant (LPI), ultrasonic testing (UT), Eddy Current (EC), industrial Radiography (RT), hardness testing, black light inspection, video fiberscope.
ii. Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Measurement and Monitoring, to incl. Strain gauge, Acoustic Emission, Torque monitoring, Flow monitoring, Material characterization and sub-surface inspection.
iii. Vibration Analysis to incl. spectrum, time waveform and phase analysis, order normalizing, machinery balance & alignment, real time analysis, bode plots, operating deflection shape etc.
iv. Infrared Thermography and Imaging, to incl. infrared thermography, digital and video imaging and airborne ultrasound to monitor high and low voltage energized electrical equipment, hot metal processes, refractory, piping, storage tanks, lubrication systems, HVAC systems, building envelopes, insulation and roofing etc.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Apply predictive technologies to collect data and diagnose equipment problems.
2. Develop machinery condition indicators for specific failure modes.
3. Basic use of CMMS software to monitor, update and respond to the status of work.
4. Identify training and development needs for self and others.
5. Maintain a network of internal contacts to improve knowledge base and stay abreast of new technology.
6. Provide input into the assessment of group or team behavior.
7. Support project teams.

Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 2 or 3 year community college diploma or engineering degree in a technical discipline. (chemical, materials, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, fluid power etc.).
2. 3-5 years of relevant work experience is desirable.
3. Level Two certification from an approved technical organization such as CGSB, CMVA, the Vibration Institute etc. is desirable. (non-supplier).
4. Trade certifications. (Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, fluid power) is desirable.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
1. Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of skilled trades. (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, fluid power)
2. Good knowledge of specific trades. (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, fluid power)
3. Good working knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point, and Excel.
4. Good working knowledge of CMMS and / or condition monitoring software.
5. Basic knowledge of Quality Control tools and processes.
6. Basic knowledge of steelmaking and finishing processes.
