SR. ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER

CLIENT:
Our client is a leading designer of electronic test instrumentation equipment.

LOCATION:
Greater Boston, MA

DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for managing Engineering Instrument Design projects in accordance with applicable Design and Document Control Procedures.

* Ensure that all assigned project objectives are met—specifically: schedule, performance, quality, product cost and project cost
* Review and participate in the creation of Product Goals (PG) produced by Product Managers
* Write and/or oversee the writing of the Product Requirements specifications (PRS)
* Create product and project cost estimates, as well as ROI calculations
* Work closely with the Hardware and Software Design Managers in product conceptualization, architecture, scheduling and all other aspects of the Design Control process.
* Plan and manage project logistics associated with prototype builds, design verification tests (DVT) and transfer to Production
* Work closely with cross functional teams including, but not limited to, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Purchasing and Document Control.

Skills:
REQUIREMENTS:

Technical knowledge of electronic product design -- preferably in the field of precision measurement instruments.

Demonstrated competency in planning and executing to plan complex projects

Very well organized and pays close attention to detail

Must be able to adapt to changing conditions and have the ability to anticipate problems before they occur in order to avoid or mitigate their impact.

PROFILE OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATEE:

Excellent written communication skills

Creative and resourceful in solving both complex and mundane problems

Ability to make reasonable trade-offs and decisions based on facts, and in some case with limited information

Possess a good balance of Engineering and Business sense

Demonstrate by personal example a strong will and determination to achieve all assigned goals

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within the Engineering Department and a cross-functional environment

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

BSEE / Computer Science / Science/ Math or equivalent training and experience.

Minimum of 5 years of electronics product design experience.

Familiarity with documentation control processes and scheduling

2 years engineering project management experience desired
