Siemens Power Generation is announcing a Materials/Metallurgical Field Technician opening in our Pittsburgh, PA location.
Job responsibilities include:
Assist in the development and implementation of Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) applications for use in the field and support lead Materials Engineer in gathering life assessment data and analysis.
Travel to Customer and Supplier sites and perform field NDE Inspection per the Siemens Power Generation requirements.
Support field inspection activities through the modification of inspection systems and procedures.
Stay current and investigate new NDE technologies.

40% - 50% average

High School Diploma required
5+ years related work experience
Experience in organizing, planning and performing NDE inspections for Balance of Plant components, including boilers, piping, heat exchangers, etc.
Must have ASNT level II certification UT and ET, additional module certifications a plus (MT, VT, PT)
Experience in field implementation of life extension methods, including tape replicas, molds, boat samples, hardness, microscopes, etc.
Knowledge of material failure mechanisms such as creep, fatigue, stress corrosion cracking and failure analysis.
Strong Computer skills and the ability to draft Inspection reports.
Desired:
Associate degree in Materials or NDE
Familiarity with ultrasonic flaw sizing techniques including TOFD, Tip Diffraction, and IGSCC sizing methods
