General Summary

Performs projects as assigned by the Captain & the Chief, maintains welding equipment

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

esponsible for inventory of oxygen and acetylene bottles
aintains torches, welding machines, and supplemental tools
epair cracks in the cutter-head as required
nsures that stairways and handrails are properly maintained
epairs any damaged steelwork
it and replace worn pipes
akes modifications as directed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

1. One year of welding experience, working in a marine
environment, along with the ability to cut, fit and weld new and
old pipe and plating.
2. Working with and communicate effectively with fellow employees.
3. Demonstrate an ability to work rotating schedules in a
marine environment
4. Basic seamanship skills
5. STCW95 Training within six months after employment
6. Must possess Ordinary Seaman MMD License from Coast Guard
7. Must demonstrate all abilities contained in the
position’s Proficiencies Checklist within six months of hire.

Location: New Orleans, LA

** Must be certified in all facets of steel welding.
** Be able to cut and fit, as well as weld.
** Be able pass standard welding test.
