Job Summary

Skills and Knowledge to interpret codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by Alcoa/Howmet Hampton, and select the method and technique for a specific inspection, and prepare and verify the adequacy of radiographic procedures. Conduct, direct, train, and test personnel in radiographic method certification. Direct control of all quality and technical functions in compliance with AlcoaHowmet Hampton Casting Standards and customer specifications.


Essential Functions

Follow Alcoa/Howmet’s Safety Regulations and Work Rules Handbook along with all departmental specific safety regulations.

Training and certification of Level I and Level II operators.

Review and interpret customer codes, standards, and specifications.

Establish radiographic techniques that meet the requirement of customer specifications.

Review internal process methods sheets for correctness.

Author, revise and rewrite quality procedures as needed or required to meet customer requirements and specifications.

Define and author activity instructions as required to meet manufacturing goals and requirements.

Establish and maintain radiographic inspection calibration procedures and schedules.

Technical resource for manufacturing in radiographic process as utilized in Howmet Hampton Business Centers.

Investigate new materials, equipment, and techniques as related to radiographic process.

Solve problems associated with film anomalies, equipment malfunction, operator error, manufacturing process abnormalities, customer requirements or internal requirements.

Define acceptance criteria as required to achieve balance between Level II film interprets.

Aggressively seek new and enhanced methods to control costs, increase quality and decrease cycle times to improve cash flow.

Coordinate engineering requirements to radiographic personnel to clarify manufacturing understanding as required.
