General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems’ operation in Garland, Texas specializes in the manufacture of defense components and precision metal forgings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
•Performs non-destructive testing (MPI) on various ordnance related products for the detection of discontinuities in product welds and parent material. Candidate will apply testing criteria ion accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
•Set up and calibrate (FWDC Magnetic Particle Machines) and all necessary daily equipment systems checks.
•Conduct tests to ensure quality of product or detect discontinuities (defects) using the equipment listed above.
•Follow established technique for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
•Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or stands and evaluate results.
•Organize and report results. Capable of providing instructional training to Level I trainees.

Skills and qualifications required include the following but are not limited to:
•Must be certified as a Level II Inspector to NAS 410 requirements for magnetic particle inspection.
•Candidate will be required to pass three in-house test phases (General, Specific and Practical) to certify as a Level II at the General Dynamics-OTS facility.
•Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, mathematical concepts and quality operating instructions. Ability to present information and respond to questions from management and/or customers as required.
•Core competencies:
-Principals of Non Destructive Testing & Inspection
-Use of Standard Measuring Instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
-Basic understanding of Blue Print reading
-Capable of understanding detail work instructions
