NDT Specialist II interprets, applies and complies with Goodrich and customer codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the application of nondestructive testing. Performs non-destructive inspections to support the shop floor and supports business needs as required. Provides technical assistance and training to Level 1 Inspectors and trainees.
Level 2 individuals must:
- Have the skill and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conduct tests, interpret, and evaluate results for acceptance or rejection, and document.
- Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of th2e technique/method in which they are certified.
- Be capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel in the technique/method in which they are certified.
- Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual document that control the method as utilized by the employer.
- Be capable of developing written instructions from approved general procedures that will require final approval by a Level 3.
- Have a basic knowledge of product manufacturing and inspection technology.
- Be capable of maintaining NDI equipment as required to ensure functionality, which may include testing, changing fluids or suspensions, moving equipment, etc.
- Be capable of the operation and maintenance of NDT equipment, and performance of NDT inspections of various materials and products.
Potential candidates should desire a career in non-destructive testing and aspire to obtain ANST Level III certification as soon as their experience and training allows.
Skills:
Strong candidates will have completed High School or the equivalent; a technical degree is desired. Minimum of two years hands-on experience performing non-destructive inspections. Current, or previous ASNT Level II certifications in at least two of the following five types of NDI methods: Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Eddy Current pr Radiographic inspection.
Must have the ability to work well in a team environment. Good written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer knowledge fo Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
