Job Summary

Radiographs castings, sample parts, and structural members for flaws, cracks, or presence of foreign materials and process related deviations by performing the following duties.


Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Follow Howmet’s Safety Regulations and Work Rules Handbook along with all departmental specific safety requirements.

Operates x-ray and film processing equipment.

Aligns test specimen between source of x-rays and film in accordance with approved x-ray techniques.

Adjusts controls of x-ray equipment to expose x-ray film.

Removes and develops film from cassette.

Assist Level II in isolation of indications appearing on film and assists in analyzing findings.

Perform daily systems, daily checks, quarterly, and annual calibrations on all associated equipment related to x-ray process with limits allowed within Activity Instruction4800.120.

Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not limited to, regular attendance and occasional overtime.

Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

1. Education:
This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree.

2. Skills and Abilities:
Internal certification with recertification every three years required. Progression to X-Ray Level III (1600 hours hand-on training and 40 hours classroom training) to meet manufacturing needs.

3. Experience:
This position requires a minimum of three months related experience and/or training.

Experienced X-Ray level I and II
Evident Ultrasonic Inspection Equipment
