Flint Hills Resources’ Pine Bend Refinery is located in Rosemount, Minnesota, minutes away from the Twin Cities of Minnesota, Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Our refinery is among the top processors of heavy crude in the United States and a leader in providing cleaner-burning and high-performance fuels. It is a refinery with capacity to process 320,000 barrels of crude per day into petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, propane and butane. The refinery also manufactures asphalt, heating fuels, and sulfur for fertilizers. In addition, it supplies much of the jet fuel used at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.

Position Summary:
As Refinery Inspector, you will be responsible for the mechanical integrity, coordination and analysis of inspection activities for an area of the plant. You will be responsible to analyze inspection data and make risk calls on the behalf of the fixed equipment group.

Daily activity will involve such things as analysis of field data and development of formal recommendations, turnaround workscope development, and management of inspection activities during turnaround, maintaining equipment records, managing equipment inspection methods/strategies, leading and assisting in the root cause failure analysis process, responsibility for code and regulatory compliance of your area of responsibility.

We are looking for someone to step into an area inspector role, however this is an entry level inspector role and some level of mentoring into the role is expected. The right candidate will be a team player, able to work with limited supervision and be results driven. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential to the role.

Work Experience/Skills Required:
To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 5 years experience working in a refinery or chemical facility. You must have certifications in at least one of the following disciplines: API 510 or API 570 or API 653.

Work Experience/Skills Preferred:
While it is not required, we would like to find someone with a background in fixed equipment inspection, non-destructive testing and welding. Knowledge of refinery processes, corrosion analysis, data interpretation, metallurgy, and damage mechanisms is a plus.

Preferred certifications would be: API 570, API 510, API 653, passing the NBIC exam and to hold current CWI certification.

Education Required:
High School or Equivalent

Education Preferred:
2 years of college or some formal technical training

Abilities:
Some overtime will be required, which might include nights, weekends and holidays during turnarounds and outages. Able to travel 0-10% of time.
