Candidate will perform two distinct job functions:
1) Candidate will inspect and test ground ladders, fire engines equipped with pumps and aerial devices in accordance with nationally recognized Standards such as NFPA 1911 and NFPA 1932.
2) Candidate will also conduct safety inspections at customer facilities by evaluating products, materials and systems to established requirements. In this role the candidate will:
Prepare inspection reports.
Review management systems and capabilities to determine if they are suitable and effective for purpose of the UL programs.
Evaluate alternate components and systems.
Work with internal and external customers to resolve technical problems.

Candidate must live within a 30 mile radius of Norfolk, VA
AAS in Non-Destructive Testing or Equivalent preferred
ASNT Level II Certification in MT, VT, UT and / or PT a plus
Previous certification to ASNT CP 189 or SNT-TC-1A in any of the above four methods is a plus.
Must be able to work in confined spaces, must be able to lift at least 70lbs.
Candidate must meet vision requirements as listed in ASNT CP 189
Candidate must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and technical ability
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, IBM Laptop Computer, Lotus Notes
Effective oral and written communication skills
Be a safe driver and have a good driving record (drivers license)
Possess physical abilities and financial capabilities to travel
Must provide own transportation for which a mileage allowance is paid.
Candidate must be willing to travel overnight up to 50% of the time;
Familiarity with basic measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc.
Ability to report data in a concise and timely manner.
