NDT Inspection Manager - British National

Our client is a major service provider to the Oil and Gas Sectors throughout the Middle East. Due to the commencement of several new projects they are looking for experienced NDT/Inspection Managers for their KSA projects.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible in planning, organizing, controlling and directing the overall operational and administrative activities of the department through the proper allocation, management and utilization of Company resources on manpower, materials, facilities and equipment, thereby ensuring that the department’s targets and objectives on productivity, service quality, timeliness and cost-efficiency are met and exceeded.

You will also have at least fifteen (15) years of extensive involvement with Inspection or NDT. Overseas experience working with a mix of nationalities and cultures is also essential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: FUNCTIONAL

-Concurs with Operations Manager, plans, leads, controls and organizes the operations of the department in order to achieve or exceed strategic goals, business objectives, and targets on productivity, quality of services and cost-efficiency.
-Plans and allocates resources on manpower, materials, equipment, and operational budget specifications according to current and future (forecasted) requirements of the department.
-Reviews incoming work requests against available resources, and initiates corresponding actions or measures.
-Oversees the quality, quantity, timeliness and cost-efficiency of inspection services being rendered to clients and vendors; thereby ensuring that all inspection assignments are performed and completed according to the clients’ and vendors’ requirements as specified in the contracts’ terms and conditions, budget specifications, and service level agreements (SLAs).
-Develops and sustains a solid client base by keeping current clients and winning prospected clients; touch bases with Business Development regarding the marketing and client retention programs.
-Meets with clients to promote the Company’s business portfolio and services, as well as to provide strong client support.
-Ensures that all technical queries, concerns and feedback from clients are properly logged or documented by the Coordinators, and are promptly referred to the Supervisors for appropriate actions.
-Initiates investigation on client complaints or shortcomings on services rendered by the Company, and facilitates appropriate remedial and corrective actions.
-Monitors the market conditions and activities of the competitors; assesses the strengths and weaknesses of competitors, and the opportunities and threats in the market sphere; reports and makes corresponding recommendations, and introduces new business directions and divergence.
-Regularly reports to senior management on the progress of projects and overall performance of his department; recommends measures to address current problems and future requirements.
-Ensures that all necessary and appropriate inspection documents such as inspection test plans, IAP, IAS, etc. are complete and promptly forwarded to the inspectors by the Coordinators prior to the inspection activities.
-Oversees the proper filing, maintenance, control and security of all incoming and outgoing correspondences, inspection reports, records and other pertinent documents in the department.
-Closely monitors the proper scheduling, planning, notification and coordination of job assignments of inspectors by the Coordinators and Supervisors; ensuring that the clients and vendors are promptly notified on changes in work schedules, and that the issues or concerns are promptly and properly resolved.
-Monitors the consistent implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), programs, policies and regulations, work instructions, and guidelines; and that corresponding sanctions are meted against erring employees in the Inspection Department.
-Monitors office-based and field personnel in the performance of their tasks and responsibilities.
-Consults with the Operations Manager on strategic plans, major courses of action, directives and critical work instructions; and delegates responsibilities and work assignments to the Supervisors and Coordinators.
-Maintains strategic and symbiotic relationship with the other organizational units to ensure that his department meets or exceeds the productivity and cost-efficiency targets.
-Recommends to Operations Manager the strategic courses of action, improvements in work systems and procedures, etc., with the end in view to sustain and reinforce the efficiency of inspection services being rendered to clients and vendors.

-Attends to / participates in the training and developmental programs called upon or requested by management in relation to the administration of his curriculum-based training plan.
-Ensures good housekeeping in the office and surrounding premises.
-Maintains records, reports and other pertinent documents as may be required from time to time.
-Performs other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate superior(s) from time to time.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education

Degree in BS Mechanical / Quality Engineering, preferably with extensive background in management of construction projects.

Trainings and Certifications

Professional License in Mechanical / Quality Engineering
Certification to ASNT Level II – RT / MT / PT / UT
Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel (CSWIP), British Gas Approvals Scheme (BGAS) or American Welding Society- Certified Welding Inspector (AWS-CWI)
