SHN Consulting Engineers & Geologists, Inc. is seeking a Materials Testing Laboratory Technician for a full-time position in our Willits, CA regional office. Successful candidates will possess a good understanding and background of the geotechnical construction/materials testing industry.

Laboratory technicians must be able to effectively communicate and interface with general contractors and/or owner representatives. Typical contracts at SHN include inspection & testing services for schools, hospitals, and other public and private buildings. Candidates should be familiar with ICC building codes. Special inspection services include structural steel & bolting, welding, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, and soil compaction testing.

Typical duties include performing, recording and reporting the results of basic laboratory procedures for soils, asphalt, aggregates and concrete (for compaction, particle size, quality, and physical characteristics) using a variety of specialized equipment including nuclear soils density gauge, scales, and meters in both laboratory and field settings. Duties also include maintaining calibration records for field and laboratory equipment. Attention to detail is a must!

Qualifications:
*ICC (structural steel welding, structural masonry, pre-stressed concrete, & spray applied fireproofing), Ultrasonic NDT Level II and ACI concrete sampling certifications highly desirable
*Good written and verbal communication skills
*High School diploma or equivalent
*Must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
*Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry field equipment and samples >100 lbs
*Must be able to perform the duties of this position outside in all weather conditions and in all terrains
*Nuclear gauge certification preferred
*Valid California Driver's license by hire date
*Working knowledge of the conditions in the geographic area
