The successful candidate is responsible for the mechanical integrity of fixed equipment and piping in accordance with API 510, API 570. S/he will be accountable for evergreening RBI data. They will use UltraPIPE software (or a similar product) and RBI data in support of fixed equipment scope of work development for turnarounds and routine maintenance. Other responsibilities include performing and/or coordinating turnaround inspection activities and supplying internal customers with inspection and repair recommendations in support of routine maintenance on piping and pressure equipment.

S/he will be responsible for multiple units. Specific areas of focus in these units will be exchangers, towers, drums, reactors, etc. The inspector will identify damage mechanisms as well as evaluate susceptibility and corrosion rates.

Taking ownership of work is crucial.

• Responsible for mechanical integrity of fixed equipment and piping in accordance with API 510, API 570, and API Risk Based Inspection.
• Responsible for evergreening Risk Based Inspection (RBI) data.
• S/he will be able to analyze UltraPIPE (or similar Inspection Data Management Systems) and RPI data in support of fixed equipment scope of work development for turnarounds and routine maintenance.
• Perform and/or coordinate turnaround inspection activities.
• Supply internal customers with inspection and repair recommendations in support of routine maintenance on piping and pressure equipment.
• Prepare plans for pressure vessels and piping in accordance with API 510/NBIC or API 570 codes.
Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent with a preference of BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering.
• API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspection Code Certification.
• API 570 Piping Inspection Code Certification.
• 5-10+ years of experience as an inspector.
• Preference for API 653 Above Ground Storage Tank Inspector and or AWS-CWI Certification.
• Preference for Risk Based Inspection and UltraPIPE Pressure Vessel calculations using PVcalc.
• Preference for Tap Root Analysis experience.
• Preference for Root Cause Failure Analysis.
• Ability to move about the plant; walking, climbing confined space entry, respirator use.
• Computer knowledge and skills; working with site software (Microsoft Office, e-mail), database management skills.
• Economic options analysis.
• Technical report writing.
• Familiarity with purchasing standards for engineered equipment.
