INSPECTOR IV, A&P (Houston)
Job Number: 0182-11
The Inspector IV, A&P (Houston) reports to the Lead Inspector, and is responsible for maintenance & repair inspections of aircraft structures, structural components and engines. The Inspector IV is responsible for inspection programs for servicing & repair of gas turbine engines & aircraft components, including but not limited to: engines, flight controls, hydraulics, fuel systems, parts & accessories. This professional applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. Ensures that all maintenance & repair complies with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Quality Procedures (QPs) & Local Work Instructions.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Quality Procedures (QPs) and Local Work Instructions.
- Advise Quality Leader when changes to Quality System and associated documentation are required.
- Maintain assigned work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Provide procedural guidance to technicians and Delegated Inspectors. Must be up-to-date on scope of required inspection and coordinate efforts to ensure a timely turnaround.
- Train and assist technicians in proper work procedures and practices.
- Accomplish final review of Work Order (W/O) documentation prior to Final Release of articles.
- Ensure that work performed is accurately reflected on W/O.
- Inform Department Leaders of problems and work status so that communications with the customers are timely and complete.
- Research logbooks, prepares logbook entries and sign-offs for approval for Return To Service (RTS).
- RTS any article that is maintained or altered by the facility, and if applicable, certify (in the appropriate records) that the article is airworthy with respect to the work performed.
- Monitor work in-progress to ensure proper paper work, procedures, techniques, and methods as prescribed by maintenance manuals, overhaul manuals, approved engineering documents and other FAA approved data are used.
- When performing tests that involve calibrated equipment, ensure that certification stickers on the test equipment are current and tests are documented.
- Accomplish preliminary, hidden damage, in-process and final inspection of all articles repaired, maintained, inspected or altered by the facility.
- Report conditions adversely affecting the airworthiness of an article under repair or alteration to the Quality Leader.

Skills:
Requirements
- FAA Airframe/Powerplant/Repairman Certificate
- 7 - 10 years of experience as a Mechanic / Inspector in Corporate Aviation.
- Experience coordinating the execution of Malfunction, Failure, Defect (MFD) Report (FAA Form 8010-4) with the Quality Leader.
- Experience completing Major Repair and Alterations form (FAA Form 337).
- Appropriately certificated and qualified personnel accomplish Non- Destructive Testing (NDT) within the scope of their authorization In Accordance With (IAW) applicable technical data.
- Inspection authority does not include Required Inspection Item (RII) authority unless specifically authorized by the Commercial Air Carrier (CAC) and Quality Leader.
- Are appropriately certificated IAW 14 CFR Part 65 and are considered Directly in Charge of Maintenance as defined in 14 CFR Part 145. May make airworthiness determinations and/or Return Articles to Service (RTS) when authorized by the Quality Leader.
